Houdini Retopologizer

This project was a feasibility study of using Side Fx’s Houdini to automatically retopologize 3D models so that they could be used as “sculpties” in Second Life. A combination of standard Houdini SOP nodes with custom SOP nodes (coded using Python) were used to slice the 3D model into layers and simplify, organise & order each layer’s vertices so that they could be correctly wrapped by the final sculptie mesh (a plane mesh with an ordered grid of 32 x 32 vertices).
